At Compass High School, learning extends far beyond the classroom. Our students recently took an unforgettable field study trip to SkyVenture, experiencing the thrill of indoor skydiving! This adventure didn’t just offer fun—it challenged students to face their fears, discover the science of flight, and develop teamwork skills in an exciting and dynamic environment.
What is Indoor Skydiving?
Indoor skydiving uses vertical wind tunnels to simulate the sensation of freefall. At SkyVenture, students were introduced to the mechanics of wind tunnels, aerodynamics, and how airflow interacts with body position to create lift. It’s science you can feel in action!
The Day’s Highlights
1. Pre-Flight Training
Students participated in a detailed training session, learning proper body positioning and safety protocols. Instructors explained the importance of communication and focus, skills students can carry into other areas of life.
2. Taking Flight
One by one, students suited up in flight gear and stepped into the wind tunnel. Nervous laughter quickly turned to triumphant grins as they felt the rush of flying for the first time.
