Celebrating Success: Compass High School Shines at the 2025 AASC State Conference
At Compass High School, we believe in nurturing leadership and fostering a spirit of community service among our students. This year, our Student Council (STUCO) has truly exemplified these values, achieving remarkable success at the 2025 Arizona Association of Student Councils (AASC) State Conference held at Tucson High School. We are immensely proud of their accomplishments and the way they represented Compass High School on such a prestigious platform.
A Proud Moment for Compass High School
The highlight of the conference was Mark “Zion” Reeves, who delivered an exceptional speech as he ran for AASC State President. Zion’s dedication and passion were evident as he stood before 1,800 high school students, presenting a campaign platform that included innovative ideas like virtual Idea Share meetings and a mentorship program for Arizona high schools. Although Zion did not secure the presidency, his ideas left a lasting impression on the AASC Board, who have invited him to consult on their implementation. Zion, your courage and vision have made us all proud!
Awards and Recognition
Our STUCO’s hard work and commitment were recognized with several prestigious awards:
- AASC Bronze Level Charitable Contribution Award: A testament to our students’ dedication to giving back to the community.
- AASC Platinum Level Community Service Hours Award: Reflecting the countless hours our students have devoted to serving others.
- AASC Council of Distinction “Honorable Mention”: Acknowledging the excellence and distinction of our council.
- AASC State “Friendliest Council” Award: Celebrating the warmth and camaraderie that our students bring to every interaction.
Building Leadership and Community Spirit
The conference was not just about awards; it was a transformative experience for our students. Twelve CHS students spent three days honing their leadership skills, starting with a trip to Playformance, where they engaged in team-building games and parkour challenges. The laughter and bonding that ensued set the tone for the days ahead.
Our students also volunteered at Ben’s Bells, contributing to the creation of ceramic wind chimes that promote kindness throughout the community. This hands-on experience reinforced the importance of service and empathy, core values that Compass High School cherishes.
A Lasting Impact
Throughout the conference, our students learned valuable lessons in communication, school spirit, and self-confidence. Their efforts did not go unnoticed, as Compass High School was recognized from the main stage for our contributions to the hosting school. Our Culinary students delighted everyone with homemade brownies, and our students took the initiative to clean the stadium bleachers each day, embodying the spirit of service without seeking recognition.

We are incredibly proud of their accomplishments and the positive impact they continue to make.
